Event Description

We will enjoy our annual picnic at Tsukisamu Park on the July 18th holiday. We will meet at the gazebo, next to the Uphill Parking Lot, which can be entered from Hitsujigaokadori. Please refer to the map on the Tsukisamu Park website in English: https://tsukisamu-park.jp/lang/en/.

You are free to come and go as you please. Friends, relatives, and guests are welcome. Please bring your own food and drink. There are some nice walking trails and activities to do in this very large park. Feel free to explore before or after lunch.

For those coming by subway, the nearest station is Misono on the Toho line. From there you would walk to the Main Entrance of the Park, located near the pond.

In case of rain, the picnic will be held Sunday, July 24. There will be an email sent out by 8:00 on the morning of July 18.

Summary
Originally scheduled for July 18, Marine Day, due to inclement weather, the picnic was held on the rain date Sunday July 24, from 11 to about 2:30. In total, 10 members, 2 guests, and 1 dog attended. The constant breeze kept us very cool and the sky was clearing as the day went on.

We spent a relaxing time eating, chatting, laughing, and sharing information about Sapporo parks, etc. Based on Kathleen’s keen knowledge of the neighborhood, we were led to a wonderful multi-service shop by the park and some of us enjoyed ice cream for dessert, in addition to the chocolates and other sweets we had shared at the gazebo. It was motivation to actually get up and take a walk through the park. Fun was had by all!
