Event Description

We will recognize our humble beginnings and the support of the Sapporo International Communication Plaza. We will prepare a slideshow highlighting the major presentations, potluck parties, picnics and other social get togethers, and our resilience during the pandemic by implementng new club activities, and the Let's Chat programs.

Summary
The Zoom social gathering officially began at 19:05 and ended around 20:45. After the opening remarks by Kathleen Riggins, Yukiko Sakai, SICP Office Manager, gave a short speech regarding the long-term relationship with HMSC during the last seven years. She thanked HMSC for all they have done to bring the foreign and Japanese community together, and her hope that the city of Sapporo and HMSC will continue to support each other and the senior population of Sapporo for many years to come.

Her talk was followed by a 15-minute slideshow highlighting many of the presentations, parties, picnics and other events held during the first 7 years of operation. This was followed by an activity to allow the participants to introduce aspects of their lives that others in attendance probably did not know about. The next activity saw those present divided into small randomly selected breakout rooms to answer the question as to what are your best memories of HMSC. When the group returned to the main Zoom room, those memories were shared by each group recorder. The last fun activity was a "Spin the Wheel" game which required each participant to respond to a random question indicated where the wheel stopped spinning. Finally, we had an open conversation about a variety of random topics brought up by those in the room. It was a very successful event.

The slideshow is being updated to represent all events that have occurred in our history during the first seven years. When completed a link to enable members to view the slide presentation file will be posted. It includes a sampling of some photos and a very brief summary of the event highlights. The details for each event can be accessed through the website Archives.
